Information for parents

For some of you this may be the first time you have left your child in a group situation.  We want you to enjoy the event you are attending and aim to make the whole process of leaving you child stress free.

 How the crèche will work.

When you arrive some one will give you a details form. You will be allocated a member of staff for your child. Once you have filled in a your form, your allocated  member of staff will discuss your child’s needs with you.  You can talk about your child’s routine, staff will need to know about any allergies or special needs. You can stay and help your child settle for a short while. Staff will provide you with a contact number you are free to phone as often as you like, to check on your child.

Sometimes children do become upset and do not settle into the crèche. We work with parents to decide at what point the parent should return to the crèche if their child is distressed. The welfare of the children is our main concern and we would not allow a child to become unduly upset.

If your child has a particular comforter please bring it along. Sometimes familiar books or toys can help a child to settle. Please make sure they are labelled

Your host/ event organiser should have discussed provision of food with you in advance. If they are providing a meal it is your responsibility to ensure it is safe for your child to eat. If you are providing food yourself please clearly label it and hand to a member of staff to be stored in a suitable place. This includes baby milk.

During the course of the crèche we will offer your child a drink and fresh fruit.  Drinking water will also be available for the duration of the crèche. If your child still uses a trainer cup, please provide your own, once again clearly labelled.

When the crèche is finished we will only release your child to the parent/carer who filled in the details form. We have security measures in place to ensure child safety. It may offend a family member to be denied access but we have to ensure all children are safe.

When you collect your child staff will give you verbal feedback on your child’s time in the crèche. We fill in a record sheet for babies recording feeds, change, sleep etc. This will be give to the parents to take with them.
